The sport of rhythmic gymnastics can be exercised in the Gymnastics club "Maksimir". Zasreb for a considerable number of years. The Club was founded on the 12th of December, 1978.

Mrs Dragana Aleksic has developed the beautiful and elegant sport of rhythmic gymnastics in Zagreb and in Croatia. Under her leadership our gymnasts have achieved outstanding results and several times have been the champions of the Republic of Croatia and the town of Zagreb.

When our gymnasts are not actively engaged in rhythmic gymnastics any more, many of them continue their co-operation with the Club acting as judges and trainers. Mrs Gordana Cimas, the present trainer in the Club, has been involved in the exercises with gymnasts since 1980.

It is our great pleasure that our Club will organize the 18th International Club Championship in Rhythmic Gymnastics which will be held under the name of "May Tournament".

Upon the recognition of the Republic of Croatia, the Croatian Gymnastics Union became the member of the UEG. The participation of the national team in the European championships in 1992 has the historical meaning for the Croatian gymnastics as a whole. Our senior gymnast, Miss Larisa Lipovac, had the honour to be a participant in the European Championship -Stuttgart '92 and the World Championship - Alicante '93.

Miss Kristina Bajza, a senior champion of Croatia for the years 1995, 1996 and 1997, who has already had 14 performances in the national gymnastics team, distinguishes herself among gymnasts who are today actively involved in this sport.
